Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. The \\\'weekend\\\' - which runs from Wednesday evening to Friday late afternoon - brings together people with different skill-sets - primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people - to build applications and develop a commercial case around them.

And the winner is …

“Locification”

The team, headed by Uri Yahalom, has developed the concept of an easy to use SDK/toolkit to ease the development of mobile apps that use location based services. The rest of the team consisted of (in no particular order) Jonathan Mor, Gitay Shafran, Vova Feldman, Vladimir Pavlenko, Oren Shtark and Roman Levin.

You can see videos of all the presentations on the newsgeekcoil.

I’d like to thank all the participants who came and supported the event. A very special note to all the mentors and judges who took from their own personal time to make this event as solid as it was. And last, but not least, to the Young Adults Center ( מרכז הצעירים) who voluntarily  let us take over their facility from Wednesday to Friday.

See ya next time.

We’d like to present you w/AllJoyn. AllJoyn is a Peer-to-Peer open source framework which takes care of most of the heavy-lifting when building P2P applications like multi-player gaming, social media sharing and multi-user productivity tools.

AllJoyn simplifies the P2P connectivity to create a better UIX by providing the following:

  • Easy discovery among devices
  • Pairing – Simplified group formation
  • Low latency communication
  • Bearer independence (users can enter and exit without disrupting connectivity)
  • Security
  • Multi platform (OS and device type)
  • Multi radio (WiFi, Bluetooth)

AllJoyn will enable the developers @ Startup Weekend to concentrate on the essence when developing P2P applications.

You can read more about the framework @ Qualcomm’s Innovation Center developer web site or download it from here.
